Another blow to the Samsung brand. The South-Korean based company is recalling nearly 3 million of its washing machines in the U.S.

Once again, electronics giant Samsung faces a consumer recall.
The company confirmed Friday it issued a voluntary recall for 2.8 million washing machines because the top of the appliance could detach unexpectedly and cause "impact injuries."
If you own a Samsung washing machine, here's what you need to know:

Samsung washing machines recalled for risk of 'impact injuries'
What's happening to some of the washers?
According to Samsung, the drums in the washers could lose balance, causing them to shake so badly the top of the machine could detach and fly off. It can happen when using a high-speed spin cycle for bedding, water resistant or bulky items, says Samsung.
How do I find out if my washing machine is affected?
The Consumer Product Safety Commission
has a list of the 34 model numbers
of Samsung washing machine affected. Samsung
has also set up a website
related to the recall. Also, one important note: these are for top-loading washers. If you have a front-loading washer, you're in the clear.
What are my options?
Owners have two choices: get the washing machine fixed or earn a rebate toward a new washer. The free in-home repair includes a "reinforcement of the washer's top," says Samsung, and one-year extension of the manufacturer warranty. The second option is taking a rebate to put toward a new Samsung washer or one from another brand. Installation of a new machine and removal of the old one will be free. If you decide to stick with Samsung, the company says they will offer a "loyalty incentive" of up to $150
